GreenPeace vs. Dr. Patrick Moore

GreenPeace vs. Dr. Patrick Moore

What is Greenpeace?

According to Greenpeace, “Greenpeace is a global network of independent campaigning organizations that use peaceful protests and creative communication to expose global environmental problems and promote solutions that are essential to a green and peaceful future.”

Who is Dr. Patrick Moore?

Prior to working for Greenpeace, and later the Sierra Club, Dr. Patrick Moore obtained a degree in forest biology and a PhD in ecology. From 1971 to 1986, Moore worked with Greenpeace Canada and Greenpeace International as a Canadian nuclear energy advocate; however, left the organization after saying that the “environmental movement had abandoned science and logic in favor of emotion and sensationalism.” In fact, Greenpeace once identified him as a co-founder, but later removed his name from the list and tried to dissociate itself from him.

What Happened while Dr. Patrick Moore was Working with Greenpeace?

Greenpeace stated that Moore was only a part of Greenpeace for financial gain, yet that wasn’t the truth and climate has since become a huge debate. Greenpeace was once part of the campaign against Canadian oil and gas and Moore was one of its first members. He left because he didn’t like what it was turning into.

Now, Dr. Moore is dedicated to finding answers to our environmental problems by balancing human needs with environmental protection and by pursuing the truth about the destiny of our world.

Why Should You Care about Patrick Moore and Global Warming?

Canada is quickly becoming the leading example of what happens when climate politics meets the traditional energy industry. It has the third largest known reserve of oil and gas on the planet and can provide affordable and reliable energy to many parts of the world, but it’s not.

The reality of what has been happening in the Canadian oil industry and what will happen in the United States is depicted throughout ‘Global Warning.’ Due to Canada’s strong environmental regulations, a significant section of the country’s historic oil industry is being forced to close. With the close of such a big industry and a stagnant economy, there has been a loss of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in investments. This will have a significant impact on everyone in Canada, and Americans should pay attention!

Global Warning offers a much-needed balanced approach to the climate change debate. The movie is situated in the heart of Canada’s energy sector where the controversy is probably having a bigger global influence than anywhere else. In order to fully understand the challenges, audiences are taken into private sessions at a UN Climate Conference in Bonn, Germany, behind-the-scenes at a US Congress hearing in Washington, D.C., to Canada’s huge oil sands, and into the offices of some of the top specialists. Global Warning will captivate individuals prepared for a voyage inside the climate issue that may test their own viewpoints on this controversial subject.
